The legality of renewing Trident
Greenpeace UK has commissioned an important legal opinion from Philippe Sands QC of Matrix Chambers: “The United Kingdom’s Nuclear Deterrent: Current and Future Issues of Legality”.
It is of considerable value in providing an authoritative account of the legal arguments against the renewal or extension of Trident on both international humanitarian law grounds and in terms of breach of the NPT.
Much of it is of general use when considering the legality of nuclear weapons in general as well as of Trident, or its possible replacement, in particular.
You can find the opinion on the Greenpeace website.
